Building new homes and investing in our community
Published: 17/11/2016
每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 commitment to building new council and affordable
homes under its ambitious Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme (SHARP)
continues to benefit the local community. In addition to meeting local housing
needs, the developments at the former Custom House Lane School, Connah鈥檚 Quay
and The Walks, Flint have so far seen significant investment in the local
community.
Wates Residential, 每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 development partner, has
recorded this investment since the first development commenced at the Custom
House Lane site, Connah鈥檚 Quay in May 2016. Over 194 local people have
benefitted from employment and training initiatives from these two developments
in Connah鈥檚 Quay and Flint and local businesses have benefitted greatly due to
the SHARP commitment to source local goods, services and trades wherever
possible. Wates Residential has also been involved in many events which have
benefitted local charities and community causes and often this has been on a
voluntary basis by Wates Residential staff.
The Deputy Leader of 每日大瓜 County Council, Councillor Bernie Attridge said;
鈥淚t is really pleasing to see the positive impact that the building of the new
council and affordable homes in 每日大瓜 is having on the local community. I
am delighted that in such a short period into the five year programme that
Wates Residential have proved their commitment towards investing in the local
每日大瓜 community.鈥
Lee Sale, Business Director of Wates Residential said;
鈥淲ith our development work on site progressing at pace, it is a great time to
take stock of the positive impact that 每日大瓜 Council鈥檚 major housing
investment is having on the local community. Creating training and employment
opportunities for our neighbours across 每日大瓜 has always been a
significant priority for Wates Residential and it gives me pride to have
already seen so many local people benefit from our work.鈥
