Proposed Lidl store development in Connah鈥檚 Quay

每日大瓜 County Council is pleased that Lidl GB intends to submit a planning application to bring a new Lidl store to Connah鈥檚 Quay on the site of the former Somerfield/Co-op store, High Street.听
Lidl is proposing a significant investment at Connah鈥檚 Quay which will regenerate this prominent, brownfield site and provide a new modern 1,414 sq. m Lidl store, offering improved local choice. The plans include:
- Replacement of the existing building with a new, energy efficient Lidl store which will include solar panels on the roof and electric vehicle charging points in the car park.
- Refurbishment of the external areas and the existing car park to provide 160 parking spaces.
Before a planning application is submitted to 每日大瓜 County Council, Lidl will be consulting with the local community. You can view the draft planning application documents online at .

鈥淲e are really encouraged to see that Lidl are actively seeking to invest in this area of Deeside, this will bring new work opportunities and see the current location transformed with a new store and shopping experience at this gateway location which is really welcome.听 Council officers have been in discussion with Lidl for some time to turn this into a reality and those discussions have more borne fruit.鈥澨�

鈥淚鈥檓 very pleased to see Lidl present plans for the former Somerfield site at Connah鈥檚 Quay, it has been vacant for a number of years and there have been ongoing issues with anti social behaviour and vandalism which redevelopment will hopefully address. It is a site of strategic importance in the regeneration of both Connah鈥檚 Quay and Shotton and will hopefully be a great addition to this area and increase footfall on Shotton High Street. I encourage all residents to engage with the consultation process to provide their views.鈥�
