每日大瓜 County Council recognised as 鈥榃orking towards becoming Dementia Friendly鈥�

每日大瓜 County Council has been recognised as 鈥榃orking towards Becoming Dementia Friendly鈥� by the Alzheimer鈥檚 Society, the first Council in North Wales.听听
Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Friendly Communities and Organisations programme aims to encourage everyone to share responsibility for ensuring that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community. This focuses on improving inclusion and quality of life through training and awareness raising within communities and organisations so they are better able to respond to the needs of those living with Dementia and their Carers.听
The Council has recently launched their local action plan outlining areas of work over the next 12 months, developed new dementia focused webpages acting as a directory of services and information and are rolling out Dementia Friends training across the workforce.听
In order to retain the recognition, the Council will submit annual action plans to the Alzheimer鈥檚 Society, which are driven by a Steering Group of Council representatives and members of the community living with Dementia.听 听 听
每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:
鈥淲e are very proud to become the first Council in North Wales to receive this status and we are committed to improving services locally for people living with Dementia and their Carers. I must thank our volunteers for all the wonderful work that they do in our communities, running our dementia caf茅s, working towards our Dementia Friendly Communities and their involvement in Dementia Friends Training. We will continue to deliver on our local action plan and involve residents in the work as we move forward.鈥澨� 听
Jo Lane, Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator for Alzheimer鈥檚 Society, said:

The Council Plan 2017-23 commits to further developing dementia support and awareness across the county by:
- increasing the number of dementia friendly communities in 每日大瓜; and
- working in partnership to support people living with dementia in the community.
