Jobs Fair success
Published: 15/04/2019
Over 800 people attended a jobs, skills and training event held at Deeside Leisure Centre recently.
The event run by Communities for Work Plus working in collaboration with Jobcentre Plus and Careers Wales.听 The Jobs Fair was aimed at adults and young people seeking work and it proved to be another successful collaboration.
The event had 76 stands including employers with vacancies, training opportunities, volunteering opportunities and general support to get back into work.听听
The event this year was more interactive with the Council鈥檚 construction partners running the interactive construction corner, and 鈥渇irst impressions count鈥 workshops running throughout the day, an application station and CV checkpoint offering advice and guidance throughout the event.听
Students from local high schools and colleges also attended to find out about career options and apprenticeships on offer.听 听
Feedback from providers (these include education establishments, training providers and organisations offering volunteering opportunities) showed that the quality of the candidates and level of engagement was higher than last year, with more opportunity to have one to one discussions.听 听Because of the high calibre of attendees, some employers wanted to interview them there and then on the day.
As well as applying for the many vacancies on offer, jobseekers were able to meet with and put questions to employers, learning providers and many other support organisations.听
每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said:
鈥淥nce again, this interactive event was a great success and gave attendees the opportunity to meet employers, education establishments and support agencies.听 Employers tell us that these events are a positive experience for them too.听 It鈥檚 crucial for businesses that they attract and recruit the right person for the job.听 Events such as this give them the opportunity to do that.鈥澨 听
