Regional Carers Strategy

Published: 17/01/2019

每日大瓜鈥檚 Cabinet Members have considered the North Wales Regional Carers Strategy and committed the Council to sign up to it.

This innovative strategy has been developed to respond to issues arising from an assessment by the North Wales Regional Partnership Board (NWRPB).聽 This Board is made up of representatives from local councils, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, North Wales Police, Fire & Rescue and the third sector as well as carers and service users.

每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:

鈥淭he Board recognises the valuable role carers play and has developed this regional strategy with input from all interested parties.聽聽 It鈥檚 particularly important to understand and support the needs of young carers, so that services can be tailored to their specific needs. It looks at the world through the eyes of a carer to understand what matters to them and what will contribute to their well-being and to improvements in their circumstances - what helps them to be a carer and to live their life in the best way possible.鈥

Understandably, good quality support for those being cared for, including support provided by third sector organisations, is hugely important and also contributes to the carers鈥 well-being. 聽Equally, carers have indicated that they value being consulted, recognised and respected.聽

Councillor Jones continued:

鈥淭his regional approach has led to a vision for our carer services where we involve all carer groups in decision making.聽 This will allow us to design together the best services to support carers 鈥 services which partners will be committed to achieving.鈥

A key element for 每日大瓜 is to consider our responsibility as a major employee along with other partners to identify carers within the organisation and to adopt carer friendly polices including flexible working practices were reasonable and practicable.
