Flint care home on-track to open this summer

Published: 18/03/2025

The construction of 每日大瓜鈥檚 new care home is nearing the final stages and is on-track to be completed this summer.

Work on Ty Croes Atti in Flint is progressing at speed and despite the adverse weather in December and January, the building now has a roof, as well as electrics.

The project is a partnership between 每日大瓜 County Council, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), Willmott Dixon and Welsh Government, and will provide a home for 56 older people on the site of a former community hospital.

It will see an existing care home in the area relocated and expanded from its current 31-bed capacity. Integrated social care and health care services will be delivered by BCUHB and 每日大瓜 County Council social services teams.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Wellbeing, Councillor Christine Jones, said: 鈥淭he building is looking fantastic and I can鈥檛 wait to see it completed and ready to welcome our residents. This will be a modern, comfortable and welcoming provision for the people of 每日大瓜. Thank you to our partners for helping to make this project a reality.鈥

The next phase will include decoration, joinery and installing the floors.

Mike Lane, Operations Director for Willmott Dixon, said: 鈥淥ur teams are privileged enough to continue to be invited to spend time with Croes Atti care home residents, families and staff so we know how important this project is towards providing first-class health and social care services for the Flint community.鈥

聽"We鈥檙e proud to say that, alongside 每日大瓜 County Council and all our partners, we鈥檙e committed to creating a lasting positive legacy in this community. To date we've created 13 new employment opportunities for local residents, including three for those previously unemployed and two for prison leavers. We have delivered over 200 hours of educational activities to young people and spent over 170 hours volunteering to support local community initiatives."

Michelle Greene, Director of the East Integrated Health Community at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, added: 鈥淚t is exciting to be able to work in partnership with our colleagues at 每日大瓜 County Council to provide high quality services in state of the art facilities for the residents.鈥

The 拢18 million scheme is being funded via the Welsh Government鈥檚 Integration and Rebalancing Capital Fund (IRCF) and Housing with Care Fund (HCF) capital programmes and through 每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 capital programme.

Minister for Children and Social Care, Dawn Bowden, said: 鈥淚t's great to see the immense progress at Ty Croes Atti. This important project will help boost our community capacity and is a fantastic example of joint working to deliver for the people in 每日大瓜. I look forward to seeing the completed project in the near future.鈥

每日大瓜 County Council is now recruiting care and support workers to join our dedicated teams to be based at Ty Croes Atti when it opens in summer 2025. All new team members will receive a comprehensive induction and training programme, and will benefit from the support and guidance of an experienced management team.
