Local Residents Lead Successful Alleyway Clean-Up in Connah鈥檚 Quay

Residents of Connah's Quay have come together to successfully enhance a neglected alleyway in their community. The initiative began when a group of residents contacted 每日大瓜 County Council to discuss concerns over the untidiness of the alleyway. Their collective determination led to the idea of forming a constituted group, with plans to apply for external funding to maintain and improve the area.
The project took a major step forward when Keep Wales Tidy and Keep 每日大瓜 Tidy organised a community clean-up day with the help of local volunteers, including Flint Litter Pickers, residents, and the local county councillor.听 Utilising Keep Wales Tidy鈥檚 Shared Prosperity Fund, the team removed and disposed of a significant amount of waste, the equivalent of filling three caged vans. Together, they worked diligently to clear the alleyway, making a visible and impactful change.
Wayne Jones, a local resident involved said: 鈥淥nce we all got together, created our aims and goals, the actual work was achieved quickly. We are in the process of finalising the group and have set up a page to help build local support and gain momentum. We wouldn鈥檛 have been able to achieve any of this without Keep Wales Tidy and 每日大瓜 County Council.鈥�
As most alleyways are not owned by 每日大瓜 County Council, each project varies based on the expectations and commitment of residents. Keep Wales Tidy and 每日大瓜 County Council remain ready to guide communities through similar initiatives. The project also includes awareness campaigns, self-policing efforts by residents, and informing new homeowners about the area's guidelines.
Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Transportation said:听

The group has since received donations from members of the public and have been approached by other organisations interested in collaborating on a future project.听
