Centenary Fields

每日大瓜鈥檚 Cabinet Members will be asked to agree to submitting an application to Fields in Trust to dedicate four sites in 每日大瓜 as Centenary Fields.

The Cabinet will also be asked to authorise the Deed of Dedication with Fields in Trust to be signed on behalf of the Council, if the applications are successful and to agree to a series of events being held to mark the occasion of the sites being designated as Centenary Fields.

The proposed sites are:

  • Green opposite Croes Atti School, Flint
  • Memorial Gardens, Holywell
  • Leeswood Memorial Garden
  • Willows Park, Hope

Centenary Fields is an initiative from Fields in Trust, in partnership with the Royal聽British Legion, to protect and preserve valued, open spaces that have some significance to World War One, in honour of those who lost their lives. The programme is one of a range of initiatives to commemorate the centenary of the end聽of World War One.

每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Andrew Dunbobbin, said:

鈥淎 legal deed of dedication between 每日大瓜 County Council and Fields in Trust will mean those sites designated as Centenary Fields will be protected in perpetuity, providing a legacy for future generations. Designating sites as Centenary Fields will reinforce the Council鈥檚 commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and safeguard green spaces for the benefit of the local community.

This submission follows a recent successful application by Buckley Town Council to have Coronation Gardens designated a Centenary Field.鈥

The final date by which all applications for Centenary Fields need to be submitted to Fields in Trust is 11 November 2018. All Deeds of Dedication must be completed by May 2019.
