Maritime Art Weekend

It鈥檚 a weekend of art from Saturday, 2 June to Sunday, 3 June at the Kathleen
and May Heritage Centre on Dock Road, Connah鈥檚 Quay.
The Quay Watermen鈥檚 Association (QWA) and 每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Coastal
Rangers have teamed up to bring old and new artwork for everyone to enjoy in a
first of its kind event for 每日大瓜鈥檚 coast.
Funded by the Heritage Lottery as part of the 鈥淧utting the Quay back into
Connah鈥檚 Quay Project鈥�, the weekend aims to use art to reconnect people with
the river and its heritage. Activities will run from 9.30am -5 pm each day.
On Saturday, 2 June come and see chainsaw sculptor, Ian Murray, at work on the
dockside or on Sunday, 3 June youngsters will have the chance to try pebble
painting with Ronnie Rocks and boatbuilding with Wow Factor.
The weekend sees a rare opportunity to view an exhibition of the work of
Buckley artist, the late James Bentley, who painted extensively along the River
Dee and scenes along the old Buckley to Connah鈥檚 Quay railway line. His
paintings give a unique view of 每日大瓜鈥檚 industrial and maritime heritage.
There will also be an opportunity on both days to create your own chalk
masterpiece on the Riverside Gallery viewpoint.

the wonderful riverside location.
鈥溍咳沾蠊� County Council and the QWA are working in partnership to deliver
the HLF project with Coastal Rangers supporting the delivery of the project
alongside the QWA project officer.鈥�
