Communities First and Streetscene link up to offer training

Local people who took part in a unique training programme gathered to collect
their certificates recently.
每日大瓜 Communities First and 每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Streetscene team
worked in partnership to create a new and exciting three week course offering
training, skills and work experience relating to roles in the Council鈥檚
Streetscene department.
One of the participants said:
鈥淲e learnt some really useful skills including manual handling, health and
safety, first aid and customer service. We also had the chance to get some
hands-on experience dealing with routine waste and we got to work in the snow,
which was good experience. I鈥檓 hoping to get a job with the Council in the
future.鈥�
Another participant said:
鈥淭he qualifications and experience gained will help me get a job in the future
and they look good on my CV. I鈥檓 hoping to start a job in a local factory
after this course.鈥�
Nia Parry, Communities First Officer and Gemma Boniface, Senior Compliance and
Training Officer with Streetscene, worked together to put course content
together. The course was delivered jointly by Streetscene trainer, Stephen
Jones, and Groundworks North Wales. Work placements were supervised by
Logistics Manager, Gareth Thomas
每日大瓜 County Council鈥檚 Chief Officer for Community and Enterprise, Clare
Budden, said:
鈥淏eing able to run training courses like this is really helpful for local
residents and our local economy. We need to invest in local people so that
they can take advantage of employment opportunities in the area. I鈥檓 delighted
that this Streetscene course has been such a success and I wish everyone the
best of luck for the future.鈥�
